Band Trips for the 2023-2024 School Year

Laing Band students get the opportunity to go on trips to Carowinds for 6th graders and Orlando Florida for 7th and 8th graders Disney World and Universal Studios are rotated each year. This year the the 7th and 8th graders are going to Universal Studios. Also this year Laing Symphonic Band was awarded the honor to play at the SCMEA Conference in Columbia, SC. The symphonic band will travel to Columbia in February for the day to perform as one of only two middle school bands chosen for this performance. 

     6th graders get to travel to Carowinds for the day. The 6th grade band performs and competes at the Festival of Music at the beginning of the day. After they are done performing they get to spend the day at the park enjoying rides like the Fury and Afterburn. This is a day trip and the students are back to Laing at the end of the day. More information will be upcoming as the year progresses. 

2022 Spring Trip at Carowinds

        7th and 8th grade band students get to travel to Orlando, Florida for a 3 day trip. Walt Disney World and Universal Studios are rotated every other year, so each student will get to experience each trip during their time with Laing Band. The experiences are different at each destination and are amazing experiences for the students! In Spring of 2022 the Laing Band went to Universal Studios and experienced how animation and music work together on a sound stage. They played the music (and some starred) in a Despicable Me animated clip.
